original drawing of a Longnose gar (Lepisosteus osseus)
matted, framed (see photo)
colored pencils on Stonehenge paper
Image size: 13 x 2.5 inches
Frame size: 21.25 x 10.1 inches
This Longnose gar original artwork is archivally matted and framed with regular glass in a muted brass-coloured brushed metal frame.*
Wearing their neat armor of ganoid scales, adult gar are apex predators—as one might guess seeing their elongated jaws full of sharp teeth. Gars are a morphologically unique and wonderful group of fish, and I love that a handful of gar species are native to North America, including the Longnose gar.
*Because I really like this drawing, I’ve exhibited it a couple times, and consequently the frame is not in perfect condition, with minor marks in the center of the bottom rail that you can see in one of the photos. Personally, I would have no qualms displaying it as is, but the price for this item is discounted to account for the frame flaws.
