This freshwater snail original artwork is archivally matted and framed with regular glass in a mottled gray wood frame with mauve hues that complement the snail’s coloration. I’ve always thought this frame was perfect for this painting.
I painted this snail as a study in preparation for illustrating a series of freshwater invertebrates—a project that never came to fruition, unfortunately. I was fortunate to have a specimen to work from, for this painting. This species is native to the United States.
