Apples such as this Jonagold variety are such wonderful subjects for colored pencils, a medium that’s great for rendering the bright saturated colors of the fruit. It’s fun to capture the changes in hues using layers of color; a challenge to render the small lighter-coloured pores (lenticels) in the skin; and
a delight to see the beautiful colors subtly reflected in the cast shadows.
